Happy Halloween

Hi everybody,

I just wanted to wish all of you a Happy Halloween.  I'll be heading out to trick-or-treat in a few hours and I figured that I would post this now.

I hope I can fill this bag with tons of candy!

After I get home I will watch some spooky shows before ending my Halloween by watching The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.

Congrats to 2013 World Series Champion Shane Victorino

Hi everybody,

Just wanted to congratulate Shane Victorino and the Boston Red Sox for their World Series win last night.  I am very happy for him!  Just wish he was still a Phillie!

Halloween Fun

Hi everybody,

I have been having a fun time this week getting into the essence of Count Dracula.  I have been wearing my costume most of the week.  It was a little strange drinking pumpkin coffee with it on but I managed.

I even wore it when I made tons of Halloween cookies and when I ate a huge breakfast.

 

I forgot the bagels....

I even was able to practice being a vampire.  I first refused wine....since I have no need for that!

I then hypnotized my cat to do my bidding.

Children of the night....what music they make!

Now go and get me a chicken salad sammich with avocado!

All I need to do is turn into a bat!

Five Year Anniversary of Phillies World Series Victory

Hi everybody,

Just wanted to mention that today is the five year anniversary of the Phillies 2008 World Series win against the Tampa Bay Rays.  I thought I would share one of my favorite photos from that great night.

Here a bonus pic of that beautiful championship ring.  I would love to own one of those someday.

Halloween Costume

Hi everybody,

Do you all have the Halloween spirit yet?  Well I do and I have been trying to figure out my costume for this year all weekend.  After my ghost costume in 2011 and pirate costume in 2012, I knew that I had to come up with something special.

My first idea was this skull mask with my Flyers jersey but I decided that it wasn't quite right.

I got quite a noggin.......

I then came up with the idea of being a Zombie.  I even think the costume turned out alright but I ended up scaring myself.  See the video below to see how spooky I can be as Zombie LC.

I finally came up with the perfect costume.

Good Evening......

Look at me.....I'm Count Dracula!  This costume is perfect.  I can't wait until Halloween so I can get tons of candy with this get-up.  Until then, I think I'll continue to wear the costume so I can really capture the essence of Dracula.

Congrats to Shane Victorino

Hi everybody,

Just wanted to congratulate former Phillies outfielder Shane Victorino for his game winning Grand Slam in the 7th inning of Game 6 of the ALCS against the Detroit Tigers.  With this win, Shane and the Boston Red Sox are in the World Series against the St. Louis Cardinals.  Good luck in the Fall Classic Shane....Philly is rooting for you!

Talkin' Phils with Little Chase (10-18-13)

Hi everybody,

Some Phillies news to report so let's get started:

Phillies Coaching News:

Juan Samuel and Wally Joyner will be returning to the Phils next season in their same roles.  Samuel will once again be the 1st Base Coach and Joyner will return as Assistant Hitting Coach.  It was reported that Joyner would not be returning but that was obviously not the case.

Roster Changes:

Four players were outrighted to Triple A yesterday.  The players are Casper Wells (Outfield), Roger Bernadina (Outfield), Cesar Jimenez (Left Handed Relief Pitcher) and J.C. Ramirez (Right Handed Relief Pitcher).  John Lannan was also offered an opportunity to go to Triple A but he declined the assignment and is now a free agent.

** Update:  Casper Wells, Roger Bernadina and J.C. Ramirez declined to go to Triple A and are now free agents.

Are you all ready for another Gettysburg Photo of the Week?  I know I am.  This week's picture is of the monument to Union Major General John F. Reynolds....who was killed during the first day of the battle.  This memorial is located in the National Cemetery and, as you all can see, is located near the topic of last week's photo....the New York State Memorial.

Chase Utley Photo of the Week (10-9-13)

Hi everybody,

I found a great pic of Chase getting an award before a Phils game.  I think it's probably the Phillies Community Outreach Award.  Chase was also the Phils nominee for the Roberto Clemente Award....which is awarded during the World Series.  I sure hope he wins!

Larry Bowa Hired as Bench Coach

Hi everybody,

Former Phillies manager Larry Bowa has been hired by the the team to be the Bench Coach under current skipper Ryne Sandberg for the 2014 season.  Bowa, who served as the Phils manager from 2001-2004, has been rumored to be joining the coaching staff ever since the season ended nine days ago.

In other coaching news, Pete Mackanin has been named the 3rd Base coach after serving as the Phils Bench Coach from 2009-2012.  Hitting coach Steve Henderson will return next season but assistant hitting coach Wally Joyner will not.  A new Pitching coach to replace Rich Dubee has not been named yet nor has a decision been made on the status of 1st/3rd Base coach Juan Samuel.

Catching Coach Mick Billmeyer Let Go by the Phillies

Hi everybody,

Phillies Catching coach Mick Billmeyer has been let go by the team.  Billmeyer had been with the Phils for the last decade and was the last coach left from the 2008 World Championship team.  Phils skipper Ryne Sandberg now has at least three coaching positions to fill and that number could grow in the coming weeks.  Rumors continue to swirl that former Phillies manager Larry Bowa could be hired as either the 3rd Base or Bench coach.

Gettysburg Photo of the Week (10-4-13)

Hi everybody,

It's the weekend and I can't think of a better way to start it than with the latest Gettysburg Photo of the Week.  This week's photo is another picture of the Pennsylvania Memorial but taken a distance away.  The picture also includes a number of other monuments at the center of the Union battle line as well as the Round Tops (Big & Little) in the background.  This is part of the area that withstood the Confederate onslaught on July 3rd, 1863 known as Pickett's Charge.

Tyler Cloyd and Raul Valdes Claimed Off Waivers

Hi everybody,

Phillies pitchers Tyler Cloyd and Raul Valdes were placed on waivers by the Phillies.  They were then claimed off waivers yesterday.  Cloyd was claimed by the Cleveland Indians and Valdes was claimed by the Houston Astros.
