This week's photo is a shot of Chase with former Phils third baseman Michael Young.  Young (acquired in a trade from the Texas Rangers) played for the Phils for most of the 2013 season until he was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers on the last day of August.

Michael Young is Retiring

Hi everybody,

Just wanted to let you know that former Phillies 3rd baseman Michael Young has announced his retirement.  Young spent most of his career playing for the Texas Rangers before being traded to the Phillies last season.  Young spent most of the 2013 season with the Phils before being traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers at the end of August.  I want to wish Michael Young good luck in all his future endeavors.

Just thought I would provide a stat update for Michael Young....who was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers ten days ago.  Young has played in fives games and has had seventeen at bats since the trade.  Here are his stats as of the end of the day on Sept 9th:

Michael Young Statement About Playing in Philadelphia

Hi everybody,

I just wanted to pass along this statement that former Phillies 3rd baseman Michael Young said about playing in Philadelphia:


"I had a blast playing in Philly. Obviously, we're all disappointed with how the season unfolded, but Philly is an incredible place to play. Great fans and a great environment. I consider myself fortunate to have played for [former manager Charlie Manuel] and [Ryne Sandberg]. Ruben was always upfront and honest with me. I'd recommend it in a heartbeat to any player out there"

Michael Young and John McDonald Traded

Young and Chase in Spring Training

Hi everybody,

The Phillies made a couple of trades last night.  Michael Young was sent to the Los Angeles Dodgers for minor league pitcher Rob Rasmussen.  John McDonald was traded to the Boston Red Sox for minor league relief pitcher Nefi Ogando.  MIchael Martinez and Cesar Hernandez were promoted from the Triple A Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs to take Young and McDonalds' place on the major league roster.

Here are the final Phillies stats for Young and McDonald:

John McDonald:
