Chase Utley Photo of the Week (11-2-16)

Hi everybody,

This week's photo is from the 2009 World Series with Chase visiting Cliff Lee on the mound.  Chase and Lee each had an amazing World Series and were the main pieces that kept the Phils in that series against the New York Yankees.

Chase Utley Photo of the Week (9-30-15)

Hi everybody,

This week's photo is a picture of Chase at the mound with Phils starting pitcher Cliff Lee.  Lee (who has been injured all season) has likely played his last game as a Phillie so figured I would show a pic of him with Chase.  I hope you all enjoy it.

Ruben Amaro Jr No Longer Phillies General Manager

Hi everybody,

Ruben Amaro Jr. was fired from his position as Phillies General Manager yesterday afternoon.  RAJ has been the Phillies GM since the start of the 2009 season as he has led the Phils to three straight NL East Titles (2009-2011) and one NL Pennant (2009).  He has also failed to make the postseason the past four seasons.  The Phils are expected to announce their new GM by the end of October.

I am glad that RAJ is finally gone as he has made some questionable decisions the last few seasons...including trading Hunter Pence to the Giants for nothing in 2012 and sending my hero Chase Utley to the Dodgers last month.  I also have to give him credit where it is due for the Four Aces (Halliday, Lee, Oswalt and Hamels) as well as getting Pence in 2011.

Pick a winner...

I wish RAJ well in his future endeavors but I think it's time to celebrate.

Party time....woohooo!!

Cliff Lee Returns to the DL and is Likely Done for the Season

Hi everybody,

Phillies starting pitcher Cliff Lee was placed on the disabled list yesterday with a recurring injury to his left elbow (Cliff Lee Placed on the DL).  The injury happened during Thursday's (July 31st) game against the Washington Nationals.  Lee was taken out of the game in the 3rd inning after complaining of pain in his left elbow.  It is believed that Lee is more than likely done for the season.  Although no replacement for Lee has been named yet, it is believed that David Buchanan will be brought up from Triple A to once again join the starting rotation.  Get well Cliff and hopefully be ready for next season.

David Buchanan to Replace Cliff Lee in Starting Rotation

Hi everybody,

Phillies minor league starting pitcher David Buchanan is being called up to the big leagues to make his first start on Saturday against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Buchanan is taking Cliff Lee's spot in the rotation while he is on the disabled list with a left elbow strain.  A roster move will be made before Saturday's game to make room for Buchanan since Darin Ruf was brought up on Wednesday to take Lee's place.  Buchanan is 5-1 with a 3.98 ERA in his nine starts with the Lehigh Valley IronPigs.

Cliff Lee Placed on the DL

Hi everybody,

Phillies starting pitcher Cliff Lee was placed on the 15-day DL (Disabled List) with a grade 1-2 stain of his left elbow.  It was announced earlier today that Lee has been pitching with elbow discomfort for the last three weeks.  It has not yet been announced who will take Lee's place in the starting rotation.  Lee was scheduled to start on Friday against the Los Angeles Dodgers.  I wish Cliff well and hope the injury is not too serious.  The Phils need Lee on the mound.
