David Montgomery Has Passed Away

Hi everybody,

Sad news to report today as Phillies Chairman David Montgomery has passed away at the age of 72.  Mr. Montgomery has been a member of the Phillies organization since 1971 and was an integral part in the construction of Citizens Bank Park.  Mr. Montgomery was known for his kindness to others and was beloved by both current and former players.  R.I.P. Mr. Montgomery.

Jimmy Rollins Retirement Night

Hi everybody,

Former Phillies shortstop and icon Jimmy Rollins officially retired as a Phillie on Saturday (May 4th) and was honored before the game against the Washington Nationals.  The Phils gifted Rollins with a custom painted glove showing some of his career highlights as well as a cool tribute video.  Many former Phils players and coaches including Charlie Manuel and Shane Victorino were in attendance to celebrate an amazing career by JRoll.  Chase Utley and Ryan Howard also made video appearances to congratulate Jimmy on a great career.

I look forward to the day in a couple years when Jimmy get inducted onto the Phillies Wall of Fame.  I also hope that a Baseball Hall of Fame induction and retirement of his number 11 by the Phils also occurs. Congrats on an amazing career, JRoll!

Aaron Altherr Designated For Assignment

Hi everybody,

Phillies outfielder Aaron Altherr was designated for assignment on Saturday (May 4th) to make room for a returning Odubel Herrera.  Although there is a chance that Altherr clears waivers and is assigned to Triple A...it is expected that he will join another team.  Good luck wherever you end up Mr. Altherr!

Odubel Herrera Returns from the DL

Hi everybody,

Phillies starting center fielder Odubel Herrera was reactivated from the DL (Disabled List) before Saturday night's (May 4th) game against the Washington Nationals.  Herrera has been on the DL since April 18th with a right hamstring strain.
