Philadelphia Eagles Win 2019 NFC East Championship

Hi everybody,

I wanted to congratulate the Philadelphia Eagles for winning the NFC East Championship earlier today with a final regular season record of 9-7.  The Eagles start their quest for the NFC Championship next Sunday (January 5th, 2020) with a home game against the Seattle Seahawks.  Go Eagles!

Week 16: Philadelphia Eagles (9-7) Beat New York Giants (4-12)

Hi everybody,

The Eagles beat the Giants 34-17 earlier today to obtain a final regular season record of 9-7 as well as the NFC East Championship.  The Eagles will play the Seattle Seahawks next Sunday (January 5th, 2020) in Philly in an NFC first round match-up.  Go Birds!

The Seven Worst Christmas Songs

Hi everybody,

** About eight years ago I posted the five worst Christmas songs ever (The Five Worst Christmas Songs).  I decided to share that list again (now with more songs) for you all to enjoy....



I love listening to Christmas songs this time of the year.  I enjoy most of them but there are a few I really don't like.  So I decided to list the seven songs I dislike the most.  I hope you don't like them as much as I don't.

1.  The Chipmunks Christmas song (Not even sure if that's the right name)

2.  Paul McCartney "Wonderful Christmas Time"  (Even thinking about this song makes me ill)

3.  "Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer" (I don't have any idea who sings it and I don't really care)

4.  George Michael "Last Christmas"  (ugh)

5.  The Peanuts "Christmas Time is Here" (That song is very depressing and I'm a happy guy)

6.  The Waitresses "Christmas Wrapping"  (This droning and grating mess of a song makes my head hurt)

7.  John Legend ft. Kelly Clarkson "Baby, It's Cold Outside"  (I like the original version of this song but this new version with updated lyrics stinks)

Week 15: Philadelphia Eagles (8-7) Beat Dallas Cowboys (7-8)

Hi everybody,

The Eagles beat the Redskins 17-9 earlier today to improve their season record to 8-7.  The Birds will play the New York Giants next Sunday (December 29th) in New York in a must-win game for the NFC East Championship.  If the Eagles win, they are in the NFC playoffs as the 4th seed.  Go Birds!

Didi Gregorius Signs One-Year Contract With Phillies

Hi everybody,

The Phils signed free agent shortstop Didi Gregorius to a one-year, $14 million dollar contract earlier today. Gregorius previously played for the Cincinnati Reds, Arizona Diamondbacks and New York Yankees before being released by the Yanks at the end of the 2019 Season.

Gregorius came back from Tommy John surgery during the 2019 Season and had a down year but is now healthy and will hopefully have a bounce back season 2020 Season with the Phils.

Gregorius is expected to be the starting shortstop at the start of the upcoming season with Jean Segura moving to second base.  Welcome to Philly, Didi Gregorius!

J.T. Realmuto Named As Catcher On 2019 All-MLB First Team

Hi everybody,

I just wanted to congratulate Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto for being named the catcher on the 2019 All-MLB First Team earlier today.  This is the third award that Realmuto has earned for his work during the 2019 Season. Realmuto was previously named a Gold Glove Award winner on November 3rd and a Silver Slugger Award winner on November 8th.  Congrats again J.T.!

The Eagles beat the Giants 23-17 in Overtime earlier tonight to improve their record to 6-7.  The Birds will play the Washington Redskins next Sunday (December 15th) in Washington, D.C.  Go Birds!

Zack Wheeler Signs Five-Year Contract With Phillies

Hi everybody,

The Phils signed free agent starting pitcher Zack Wheeler to a five-year, $118 million dollar contract earlier today. Wheeler played his entire Major League career with the New York Mets before becoming a free agent at the end of the 2019 Season.

Wheeler is expected to be the Number 2 starter in the rotation behind Aaron Nola.  Welcome to Philly, Zack Wheeler!

Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day

On this day 78 years ago, Japan attacked the United States at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii.  2,403 American citizens lost their lives in the surprise attack that led to the entry of the United States into World War II and this day honors their sacrifice.

Phillies Roster Moves

Hi everybody,

The Philles have made several roster moves earlier today.  The following players were not tendered contracts and are now free-agents:

-- Maikel Franco (3rd Baseman)
-- Cesar Hernandez (2nd Baseman)

The following arbitration-eligible players were tendered contacts (contract length and cost will be determined later) and will return to the team next season:

-- Jose Alvarez (Left Handed Relief Pitcher)
-- Adam Morgan (Left Handed Relief Pitcher)
-- Zach Eflin (Right Handed Starting Pitcher)
-- Hector Neris (Right Handed Relief Pitcher)
-- Vince Velasquez (Right Handed Pitcher)
-- J.T. Realmuto (Starting Catcher)

Backup catcher Andrew Knapp signed a one-year contact and avoided arbitration.

Right handed pitcher Trevor Kelley was claimed off of waivers from the Boston Red Sox.

Franco and Hernandez were two of the longest tenured Phillies and I wish them luck both next season and beyond.
