Jim Thome

Good luck in Baltimore!!!

Hi everybody,

The Phils have traded Jim Thome to the Baltimore Orioles for minor league prospects Gabriel Lino (a catcher) and Kyle Simon (right-handed pitcher).  The trade will allow Thome to get a lot more playing time as the DH (Designated hitter) for the Orioles.

I am sad to see Thome go even though I understand why the trade was made.  I do wish Thome good luck in Baltimore and I will be rooting for him. He is truly a class act.

Thome's final stats as a Phillie this year are 9 Runs Scored, 15 RBIs, 5 Home Runs and 8 Walks.

Game 79: Phillies (36-42) at Marlins (35-40)

Hi everybody,

Here is the score of tonight's game:

Philadelphia Phillies:         2
Miami Marlins:                     6

LP:   Cliff Lee (0-5)

Hunter Pence gets two RBIs (47)

Hunter Pence gets a Home Run (15)

Phils lose again!  Third loss in a row and Clff Lee is still winless.  At least I get to watch Chase play.

Game 78: Pirates (39-35) at Phillies (36-41)

Hi everybody,

Here is the score of today's game:

Pittsburgh Pirates:              5
Philadelphia Phillies:          4

LP:   Kyle Kendrick (2-8)

Erik Kratz gets two RBIs (3)
Placido Polanco gets an RBI (18)
Hunter Pence gets an RBI (45)

Erik Kratz gets a Home Run (2)
Hunter Pence gets a Home Run (14)

From the 2nd through the 7th inning Kyle Kendrick pitched very well and kept the Pirates from scoring.  Unfortunately he gave up five runs in the 1st inning and that was enough for the Pirates to get a victory.  The Phils did manage to battle back and score four runs but were unable to tie the game.  The Phils are off to Miami for a weekend series and Chase Utley should be in the lineup tomorrow.

Game 77: Pirates (38-35) at Phillies (36-40)

Hi everybody,

Here is the score of tonight's game:

Pittsburgh Pirates:            11
Philadelphia Phillies:          7

LP:   Raul Valdes (2-1)

Chase Utley gets an RBI (1)
Carlos Ruiz gets two RBIs (43)
Hunter Pence gets an RBI (44)
Shane Victorino gets an RBI (35)
Jimmy Rollins gets an RBI (27)
Juan Pierre gets an RBI (16)

Chase Utley gets a Home Run (1)
Carlos Ruiz gets a Home Run (11)

Chase Utley returned to the lineup tonight and had a great game hitting 3 for 5 with a Home Run and an RBI.  Utley's Home Run came in his first at bat and it put the Phils up 1-0.  It was a great first night back for Chase and I am really happy to see my hero back in action.

Unfortunately the bullpen pitched terrible and lost the game 11-7.  The Phils were down 8-2 in the 6th inning before they started to make a comeback. They cut the lead to 8-7 in the top of the 8th inning before the Pirates added three more runs.  The Phils go for the series win tomorrow afternoon before heading to Miami for a weekend series against the Marlins.  Go Phils!!!

Chase Utley Photo of the Week (6-27-12)

Hi everybody,

It's the best "Photo of the Week" week ever!! (so far)  Chase is back in the lineup tonight!!  I am so happy!!!  To celebrate I'm going to share two pictures this week!  First up is a pic from last night when he played with the Phils' AAA club The Iron Pigs.  This must have been after he hit his home run.  I hope he hits one tonight!!

The second pic is another one of Chase smiling...this time with Charlie Manuel.

Okay, I've gotta go watch the game now!  Go Chase and go Phils!!!
