Happy Birthday Phillie Phanatic

Hi everybody,

Just wanted to wish the Phillie Phanatic a Happy 44th Birthday.  I hope the Phanatic enjoys his big party tonight at the ballpark.  It is a little weird how the date of the Phanatic's birthday changes every year yet is always falls on a Sunday.  Since I started covering the Phanatic's birthday on my blog, the dates of this big day have been:

2013 = April 21st
2014 = May 18th
2015 = April 26th
2016 = April 17th
2017 = April 23rd
2018 = April 29th
2019 = April 28th

2020 = No Celebration

2021 = April 18th

Oh well, I guess it's just a strange mystery!  Happy Birthday Phanatic and thanks again for making me laugh during every Phillies home game!

Here's Gritty

Hi everybody,

The Philadelphia Flyers introduced their new mascot last week and initially was met with a mixed response from the Philly fans.

I'm scared...

On Saturday night (September 29th), Gritty made an appearance at Citizens Bank Park and hung out with the Phillie Phanatic.  He seemed to be a hit with the Phillies fans as he and the Phanatic danced on top of the dugout.

Dance lessons from the Phanatic...

I must say that Gritty has grown on me.  Even though he's still kinda spooky and is like the Phanatic's crazy step-brother...I'm glad he has joined the Philly mascot team.  Welcome to Philly, Gritty!!!

I'm still sorta scared...

Jim Thome Honored by Phillies for Hall of Fame Induction

Hi everybody,

The Phillies honored former first baseman and Wall of Famer Jim Thome for his Hall of Fame induction on July 29th before the start of yesterday's (June 14th) game against the Colorado Rockies.  Thome said a few words to the crowd before throwing out the first pitch.  He also got to shoot the hot dog cannon with the Phillie Phanatic during the game.

Thome has always been one of my favorite Phillies and I am very happy for his well deserved Hall of Fame induction.  Congrats, Big Jim!!!
