Gettysburg Photo of the Month (October 2019)

Hi everybody,

This month's Gettysburg photo is a picture taken by my friends way back in 2009 of the "Castle Monument" on Little Round Top.  This monument honors the 12th and 44th New York Infantry Regiments for their heroic stand on Little Round Top on July 2nd, 1863.

The monument is visually stunning and has an upper lever where you can get a better view of the surrounding battlefield.

Gettysburg Photo of the Month (September 2018)

Hi everybody,

This month's photo is a shot of a Union monument located on Little Round Top.  I can't say for certain but I'm pretty sure it is one of the monuments to the 20th Maine Infantry Regiment.  The 20th Maine was instrumental in protecting the rear of the Union line on Little Round Top during the fierce Confederate attack on July 2nd.

Gettysburg Photo of the Month (September 2017)

Hi everybody,

This month's photo is of the monument to the First Vermont Brigade.  The Brigade was held in reserve during the Battle of Gettysburg (stationed near Little Round Top) but during the course of the Civil War had the highest casualty count in the history of the United States Army.  Here is a link to learn more about the actions of the First Vermont Brigade during the Civil War:

Gettysburg Photo of the Month (August 2017)

Hi everybody,

This month's photo was taken on Little Round Top during my trip to Gettysburg in April.  Little Round Top was the scene of heavy fighting on the second day of battle and the monument in the picture is of Union General Gouverneur K. Warren (Gouverneur K. Warren) who ordered the fortification of Little Round Top just prior to a Confederate flank attack.
