Jeanmar Gomez Designated for Assignment

Hi everybody,

The Phillies DFA (Designated for Assignment) relief pitcher Jeanmar Gomez yesterday (June 20th) and brought up Triple A pitcher Hoby Milner to replace him in the bullpen.  The Phils will have seven days to try to trade Gomez and if they don't he will be released.

Gomez has pitched poorly since before losing the job as the closer at the end of last season.  He has had an ERA (Earn Run Average) of 9.64 since August 14, 2016.  I wish him all the best in his future endeavors.

Jeanmar Gomez Returns from the DL

Hi everybody,

Phillies relief pitcher Jeanmar Gomez returned from the DL (Disabled List) in yesterday's (May 25th) game against the Colorado Rockies.  Gomez has been on the DL since early May with an elbow injury (right elbow impingement).  Gomez looked good in his return by pitching a scoreless 11th inning and getting the win.  Let's hope he can keep it up the rest of the season.

Jeanmar Gomez Placed on the DL

Hi everybody,

Phillies relief pitcher Jeanmar Gomez was placed on the 10-day DL (Disabled List) with an elbow injury (right elbow impingement) yesterday (May 9th).  It is thought that the injury may have occurred during the series last week against the Chicago Cubs.  There is currently no timetable for Gomez's return.  The Phils have brought up utility man Ty Kelly from Triple A to take Gomez's roster spot.
