Game 61: Phillies (29-31) at Orioles (32-26)

Hi everybody,

Here is the score of today's game:**

Philadelphia Phillies:          4
Baltimore Orioles:               6

** Extra Innings (Game ended in the 12th)

LP:   B.J. Rosenberg (0-1)

Jim Thome gets two RBIs (3)
Jimmy Rollins gets an RBI (16)
Hector Luna gets an RBI (10)

Jimmy Rollins gets a Home Run (4)
Hector Luna gets a Home Run (2)
Jim Thome gets a Home Run (1)

The Phils lose a tough one in extra innings.  The defense made too many costly errors and was a major cause of the defeat.  Jim Thome continued to hit well as the DH.  He got two RBIs and his first Home Run of the season. Cliff Lee will be on the mound tomorrow as the Phils try to win this series. Let's hope Lee will finally get his first win of the season.

Game 53: Marlins (29-22) at Phillies (27-25)

Hi everybody,

Here is the score of last night's game:

Miami Marlins:                    4
Philadelphia Phillies:         6

WP:   Kyle Kendrick (2-4)
SV:    Jonathan Papelbon (15)

Hunter Pence gets two RBIs (32)
Hector Luna gets three RBIs (9)
Jimmy Rollins gets an RBI (12)

Hunter Pence gets a Home Run (12)

I really want to apologize about the extremely late update.  I guess I did a little too much National Doughnut Day celebrating.  This was a great win by the Phils to start out this three game series against the Marlins.  Kyle Kendrick pitched well once again and Jonathan Papelbon got his 15th save.  It was a five out save and was very impressive.  The Phils as a whole hit really well. Hunter Pence smashed his 12th Home Run and got three hits.  Placido Polanco and Carlos Ruiz also got three hits each.  Hector Luna looked sharp at the plate with three RBIs.  The Phils continue the series this afternoon with Cole Hamels pitching.  Go Phils!!!

Game 41: Red Sox (18-21) at Phillies (21-19)

Hi everybody,

Here is the score of last night's game:

Boston Red Sox:              7
Philadelphia Phillies:       5

LP:   Joe Blanton (4-4)

Jimmy Rollins gets an RBI (7)
Shane Victorino gets an RBI (17)
Hector Luna gets an RBI (5)
Freddy Galvis gets two RBIs (19)

Freddy Galvis gets a Home Run (3)

The Phils win streak ends at six games as they lost to the Red Sox 7-5.  The Phils were able to get runners on base with 15 hits but could not turn those hits into runs.  Freddy Galvis did hit his 3rd Home Run of the season and his second in as many days.  The rest of the teams in the NL East also lost so the Phils remain four games out of 1st place.  Cliff Lee pitches later today as the Phils go for the series win.  Go Phils!!!

Philadelphia Phillies:    9
Chicago Cubs:               2

WP:   Jose Contreras (1-0)

Freddy Galvis gets an RBI (16)
Shane Victorino gets an RBI (15)
Carlos Ruiz gets an RBI (24)
Ty Wigginton gets two RBIs (12)
Hector Luna gets four RBIs (4)

Carlos Ruiz gets a Home Run (7)
Hector Luna gets a Home Run (1)*

* Grand Slam

Great win by the Phils as they improve their record to 19-19 and win their 4th game in a row.  Kyle Kendrick pitched well in a spot start for Vance Worley (he's on the DL) but did not figure in the decision.  The bullpen held the Cubs to no runs for three innings and Jose Contreras got his first win.  The Phils offense took the lead in the 8th with a Carlos Ruiz Home Run (his 7th of the season) and scored six runs in the top of the 9th to take a commanding 9-3 lead.  Hector Luna (in his first at bat as a Phillie) hit a Grand Slam Home Run. The Phils go for the series sweep against the Cubs tomorrow and their 5th win in a row.  Go Phils!!!
