Chris Wheeler Announces Retirement From Phillies After 47 Years

Hi everybody,

I just wanted to mention that former Phils broadcaster and goodwill ambassador Chris Wheeler has announced his retirement from the Phillies organization after 47 years of employment.  Wheeler (better known as Wheels) did broadcasting for the Phillies from 1977 to 2013 before becoming a goodwill ambassador for his final three years with the team.  Before his broadcasting career, Wheeler worked in the Phils public relations department.

I just wanted to share Wheeler's reaction to the winning call of the 2008 World Series by Harry Kalas...which was just as great as Harry's amazing call.

Baseball Writers' Association of America 2014 Phillies Award Winners

Hi everybody,

Here are the winners of the Baseball Writers' Association of America 2014 Phillies Awards:

1) Mike Schmidt Award for Most Valuable Player = Marlon Byrd
2) Steve Carlton Award for Most Valuable Pitcher = Cole Hamels
3) Dallas Green Award for Special Achievement = Jimmy Rollins
4) Tug McGraw Award for True Professionalism = Ryan Howard
5) Charlie Manuel Award for Service & Passion to Baseball = Chris Wheeler*

The awards were presented on the field before Friday night's game against the Atlanta Braves.  Congrats to all the winners!

Congrats to Jamie Moyer and Matt Stairs

Hi everybody,

Just wanted to congratulate Matt Stairs and Jamie Moyer for their new positions as members of the Phillies TV Broadcast Team.  The former 2008 World Series Champs will be in the booth this season with Tom McCarthy.  They will each work at least 100 games and will be a three-man team with McCarthy for more than 30 games.  Stairs and Moyer replace long time broadcaster Chris "Wheels" Wheeler and Gary Matthews.  Both Wheeler and Matthews will be doing other work for the Phillies.
