Cole Hamels Traded to the Texas Rangers

Hi everybody,

Phillies Ace starting pitcher Cole Hamels, relief pitcher Jake Diekman and $9.5 million have been traded to the Texas Rangers for five prospects and one MLB ready starting pitcher (Matt Harrison).  The prospects traded for Hamels & Diekman are:

1) Right-handed pitcher Jake Thompson
2) Right-handed pitcher Jerad Eickhoff
3) Right-handed pitcher Alec Asher
4) Outfielder Nick Williams
5) Catcher Jorge Alfaro

With Hamels departure...there are only three Phillies left from the 2008 World Series Championship Team (Utley, Howard & Ruiz).  I understand that the trade had to be done but it is still sad.  Hamels leaves the Phillies as a three time National League All-Star and the MVP of both the 2008 National League Championship Series and World Series.  He also pitched a No-Hitter in his final Phillies start as well as being part of a Combined No-Hitter last season with Diekman, Ken Giles & Jonathan Papelbon.

Good luck in Texas Cole!  You will always be a Phillie to me!

Talk to you soon,
Little Chase
