Charleston Photo of the Month (August 2022)

Hi everybody,

This month's Charleston photo is a picture of the Pirate Church (named by my friends) which is located on Sullivan's Island near Fort Moultrie.  I love this building and always look forward to seeing it when visiting Sullivan’s Island.

Charleston Photo of the Month (August 2020)

Hi everybody,

This month's Charleston photo is a picture of the menu to Poe's Tavern...which is located on Sullivan's Island near Fort Moultrie.  Poe's Tavern has some of the best burgers in the Charleston area and I look forward to going back there the next time I visit.

Hi everybody,

This month's Charleston photo was taken on the observation deck of the Fort Moultrie Visitor Center facing Fort Moultrie.  Fort Sumter is out in the harbor beyond Fort Moultrie but is not visible in this picture.

Charleston Photo of the Month (July 2017)

Hi everybody,

This month's Charleston photo was taken at The Battery of the monument to Revolutionary War hero William Moultrie.  Moultrie successfully defended Charleston against a British attack in 1776 from a small fort on Sullivan's Island.  That fort would later be named Fort Moultrie in his honor.

Charleston Photo of the Month (February 2017)

Hi everybody,

This month's Charleston photo is a shot of Fort Moultrie on Sullivan's Island from the observation deck of the Fort Moultrie Visitor's Center.  This pic was taken during my trip to Charleston last September and if you look carefully you will see Fort Sumter in the background.  Fort Moultrie and Fort Sumter were both vital to the defense of Charleston by Confederate forces during the Civil War.

Throwback Thursday (1-19-17)

Hi everybody,

This week's Throwback Thursday moment is from my trip to Charleston, SC last September when my friends and I visited Sullivan's Island.  While on the island we decided to stop at Fort Moultrie...which was used during the Civil War by both Union and Confederate forces.  I'm pretty sure that Fort Sumter is also visible in the background.

Throwback Thursday (10-20-16)

Hi everybody,

This week's Throwback Thursday moment is yet another picture from my trip to Charleston, South Carolina last month.  This picture was taken on Sullivan's Island at a building my friends and I refer to as the Pirate Church.  The Pirate Church is located near Fort Moultrie as well as Poe's Tavern (which has some pretty good burgers) and is one of the coolest buildings on the island.

I must say that Sullivan's Island is a really nice place to visit while in Charleston.  My friends and I enjoyed our time there so much that we even thought up a little jingle about Sullivan's Island...which I may share with you all someday.
