Jeremy Hellickson Traded to the Baltimore Orioles

Hi everybody,

The Phillies traded starting pitcher Jeremy Hellickson and cash considerations to the Baltimore Orioles last Friday night (July 28th) for outfielder Hyun Soo Kim and left-handed pitcher Garrett Cleavinger.  The Phils also received international amateur signing bonus pool space as part of the trade.  Good luck in Baltimore, Jeremy!

Howie Kendrick Traded to the Washington Nationals

Pat Neshek Traded to the Colorado Rockies

Hi everybody,

The Phillies traded right-handed relief pitcher Pat Neshek and cash to the Colorado Rockies for Minor League prospects Jose Gomez (shortstop), Alejandro Requena (right-handed pitcher) and J.D. Hammer (right-handed pitcher).  All three of the new Phillies prospects were named All-Stars of the South Atlantic League this season.

Neshek (who was the sole Phillies All-Star) goes to a Rockies team that is in Wild Card contention.  Neshek spoke fondly of his brief time in Philly and stated he would be open to resign with the Phils after this season.  Good luck in Colorado, Pat Neshek!

Aaron Altherr Returns from the DL

Phillies starting outfielder Aaron Altherr returned from the DL (Disabled List) in last night's (July 26th) game against the Houston Astros.  Altherr had been on the DL since July 14th with a strained right hamstring.  Welcome back, Aaron Altherr!

Daniel Nava Placed on the DL

Hi everybody,

Phillies outfielder Daniel Nava was placed on the 10-day DL (Disabled List) with a left hamstring strain before last night's (July 26th) game against the Houston Astros.  The injury occurred during Saturday's (July 22nd) game against the Milwaukee Brewers so Nava's DL stint is retroactive to July 23rd.  Nava will be able to return by August 2nd, but it is unknown if he will be ready to play by then.

Freddy Galvis Named Phillies 2017 Heart and Hustle Award Winner

Hi everybody,

I just wanted to congratulate Phils shortstop Freddy Galvis for being selected as the Phillies 2017 Heart and Hustle Award winner.  Heart and Hustle Award winners are voted on by former MLB players and are awarded to active players who most represent passion for the game of baseball and best embody the values, spirit and tradition of the game.  The final winner among the 30 chosen (one for each MLB Team) will be selected on November 14th during the 18th Annual Legends for Youth Dinner in New York City.  Congrats again, Freddy!

Vincent Velasquez Returns from the DL

Hi everybody,

Phillies starting pitcher Vincent Velasquez returned from the DL (Disabled List) in yesterday's (July 18th) game against the Miami Marlins.  Velasquez has been on the DL since the end of May with a right elbow flexor strain.  Velasquez looked good in his first game back and hopefully he will continue to pitch well for the rest of the season.  Welcome back, Vince!

2017 MLB All-Star Game

Hi everybody,

The 2017 MLB All-Star game was last night and the National League lost to the American League 2-1 in 10 innings.  Even though the National League lost, Phils relief pitcher Pat Neshek pitched well.  Neshek pitched a scoreless 2nd inning and upped his potential trade value if the Phillies elect to move him by the trade deadline.

Phillies All-Star Pat Neshek and the Phillie Phanatic Receive Their Jerseys

Hi everybody,

Phillies All-Star relief pitcher Pat Neshek and All-Star mascot the Phillie Phanatic received their NL All-Star jerseys during a pregame ceremony on Sunday (July 9th).  Neshek and the Phanatic seemed pretty happy when they were presented with their All-Star jerseys and got to pose with them on the field.  Congrats to Pat Neshek and the greatest mascot in all of sports...the Phillie Phanatic.

Chase Utley Gets His 1000th Career RBI

Hi everybody,

I just wanted to congratulate former Phillies 2nd baseman (and my hero) Chase Utley for knocking in his 1000th career RBI on Friday (July 7th) against the Kansas City Royals.  I wish Chase could have done this career milestone as a member of the Phils but I am still very happy for him.  Congrats again, Chase and as the great Harry Kalas once said....Chase Utley you are the man!

Jerad Eickhoff Returns from the DL

Hi everybody,

Phillies starting pitcher Jerad Eickhoff returned from the DL (Disabled List) before yesterday's (July 9th) game against the San Diego Padres.  Eickhoff had been on the DL since June 20th with a strained upper back.

Eickhoff looked impressive in his return and earned his first victory of the season.  Hopefully he will continue to pitch well when the Phils return from the All-Star break.

Charleston Photo of the Month (July 2017)

Hi everybody,

This month's Charleston photo was taken at The Battery of the monument to Revolutionary War hero William Moultrie.  Moultrie successfully defended Charleston against a British attack in 1776 from a small fort on Sullivan's Island.  That fort would later be named Fort Moultrie in his honor.
