2016 Little Chase Season Highlights (12-30-16)

Hi everybody,

This week's "highlight" was from one of the many times this season that I hung out with my good friend Secret Squirrel (@dwh944 on Twitter) at my saloon.  Secret Squirrel is a great pal who is both interesting and fun.  If you get a chance...follow him on Twitter.

Hi everybody,

This week's Throwback Thursday moment was from my birthday last year.  My friends got me this nice cake and we all had a great time celebrating.

Chase Utley Photo of the Week (12-28-16)

Hi everybody,

This week's photo is a cool shot of Chase sliding in safe to third base.  I'm assuming my hero just hit a triple but it's possible that he ran from first to third after someone else hit a single (or double).

2016 Little Chase Season Highlights (12-23-16)

Hi everybody,

This week's "highlight" happened early in the season when the Phillie Phanatic visited the NBC 10 studios and started goofing around.  Meteorologist Sheena Parveen managed to take a selfie pic of herself and the Phanatic as he was on one of the many computers at the studios.  She also manages to catch me in the shot as I was watching the Phanatic's hijinks.

Ms. Parveen's last day in Philly was last Friday (December 16th) because she took a job in Washington D.C.  We will miss you Sheena and good luck.  I always enjoyed your weather forecasts and "sneaking" into your selfies.

Throwback Thursday (12-22-16)

Hi everybody,

This week's Throwback Thursday moment is another pic of Little Kringle's visit during the holiday season.  In this shot...Little Kringle waits under the mistletoe for some kisses from the ladies.  I wonder how many smooches he ended up getting?

Chase Utley Photo of the Week (12-21-16)

Hi everybody,

This week's photo is just a cool shot of Chase hanging at first base with Ryan Howard between pitchers.  I believe that is former Phils reliever Michael Stutes throwing warm up pitches as Chase and the Big Piece look on.

Gettysburg Photo of the Month (December 2016)

Hi everybody,

This month's photo was taken in the early evening near the Doubleday Inn in the spring of 2010.  The inn is close to the Peace Light Memorial and is right on the battlefield.  What an amazing view!

Odubel Herrera Signs Contract Extension With Phillies

Hi everybody,

I just wanted to congratulate Phillies center fielder Odubel Herrera for signing a five-year contract extension.  The deal (worth $30.5 million dollars) will keep Herrera in a Phillies uniform through at least 2021 and up to 2023 if club options are exercised.  Congrats again El Torito!

Happy Birthday Chase

Hi everybody,

I just wanted to wish a belated Happy Birthday to my hero Chase Utley.  His birthday was on Saturday (December 17th).  By pure coincidence...yesterday was my birthday as well.  I have decided to honor both our birthdays with some gold old birthday cake.

Charleston Photo of the Month (December 2016)

Hi everybody,

This month's Charleston photo was taken in September of a random building or home that my friends and I found as we were wandering around the Historic District.  I just love the look of the Palmetto trees in front of the building.

2016 Little Chase Season Highlights (12-16-16)

Hi everybody,

This week's "highlight" is a very strange one.  I'm not even sure when it happened.  It may be the result of too many late nights at the saloon or too much cold medicine when I wasn't feeling well.  In any event...I sure hope I ate all of the pizza because it looks pretty good.

Throwback Thursday (12-15-16)

Hi everybody,

This week's Throwback Thursday moment is another pic from a couple years ago when Little Kringle came to visit during the holiday season.  In this shot...Little Kringle is about to snack on some Christmas cookies and hot chocolate.  I sure hope that LK didn't add his "kick" (a.k.a. booze) to that hot cocoa.

2016 Little Chase Season Highlights (12-9-16)

Hi everybody,

This week's "highlight" was from this year's Thanksgiving Day parade in Philly where the super cool LC float made its debut.  I never thought that I would see a float of myself in a parade. :-)

I'm huge...

Throwback Thursday (12-8-16)

Hi everybody,

This week's Throwback Thursday moment was from a couple years ago when Little Kringle first visited during the holiday season.  Little Kringle sure did enjoy drinking eggnog and always made sure to put a little "something extra" to give it a kick.  Come to think of it...he put a lot of "something extra" in his eggnog.

Little Kringle may be a bit of a boozer....

2016 Little Chase Season Highlights (12-2-16)

Hi everybody,

This week's "highlight" occurred several months ago when I "hitched" a ride with the Fox 29 Good Day Philadelphia Morning Crew as they drove around Philly.  It was a fun ride and Mike Jerrick, Alex Holley and Sue Serio didn't seem to mind that I tagged along.

2016 Little Chase Season Highlights (11-25-16)

Hi everybody,

This week's season "highlight" was from early in the season when the NBC 10 weather crew was hosting an event at Citizen's Bank Park.  I crashed this event last year (2015 Little Chase Season Highlights (11-18-2015)) so I didn't think anyone would mind me doing it again this year.  I decided to hop out of the dry ice bucket to surprise everyone but they were taking a group selfie when I made my grand entrance.  I'm glad I decided to wear my snuggie because that dry ice was cold.

Even though today is Thanksgiving....I still have a Throwback Thursday moment to share with you all.  This photo was taken a few months back when my friends brought me some fried chicken and steak fries from Royal Farms.  The fried chicken was some of the best that I have ever had and I look forward to having it again soon.

2016 Little Chase Season Highlights (11-18-16)

Hi everybody,

This week's season "highlight" was one of the stranger moments while I was in England filming for Season 4 of the hit TV series Sherlock.  In this shot...Sherlock, Watson and I were in hot pursuit of the bad guys in a very odd but fun car.  I won't say what happened but once again wacky hijinks soon commenced.

Even the car was enjoying the chase....

Hi everybody,

This week's Throwback Thursday moment was from my Fourth of July celebrating in 2015.  Besides really feeling patriotic...I was trying to persuade some more famous people to follow me on Twitter with a little $5 donation.  There wasn't any takers so I just spent the money on some lunch.

Chase Utley Inducted Into Arizona Fall League Hall of Fame

Hi everybody,

Former Phillies 2nd baseman (and my hero) Chase Utley was inducted into the Arizona Fall League Hall of Fame last night (November 16th) along with Dodgers 1st baseman Adrian Gonzalez.  The Arizona Fall League is owned and operated by Major League Baseball and it is where many up and coming MLB prospects are sent to hone their skills during the offseason.  Congrats, Chase!

Congrats to my hero...

2016 Little Chase Season Highlights (11-11-16)

Hi everybody,

This week's season "highlight" occurred early in the season when I once again snuck into the Comcast Sportsnet studios to watch my two favorite anchors Amy Fadool and Jen Daniels on SportsNet Central.  During a commercial break...I managed to get into a selfie that the ladies were taking.  The Chickbusters (my old nickname for Amy and Jen) didn't seem to mind though...so a good time was had by all.

Phillies Officially Cut Ties With Ryan Howard

Hi everybody,

The Phillies have officially released first baseman Ryan Howard yesterday when they declined his 2017 club option on his contract.  The Phils will instead pay Howard $10 million dollars and he becomes a free agent.

This move is no surprise since the Phils had a big ceremony honoring the Big Piece before the final game of the season last month (Ryan Howard Honored by the Phillies and the Fans on the Last Day of the 2016 Season) but it is still a sad day.  Howard was the last Phillie from the 2008 World Series team as well as era of success from 2007-2011.  Good luck wherever you end up Big Piece.  I'll be rooting for you and you will always be a Phille to me.

Charlie Manuel Inducted Into the Philly Sports Hall of Fame

Hi everybody,

I just wanted to congratulate former Phillies skipper Charlie Manuel for his induction last night into the Philly Sports Hall of Fame.  Manuel was the Phils manager for nine seasons (2004-2013) and led the team during the most successful period of its history from 2007-2011.  During this time the Phillies captured five straight NL East titles, two National League titles and the 2008 World Series championship.  Congrats for your induction Charlie!

Matt Stairs Hired As New Phillies Hitting Coach

Hi everybody,

Phillies broadcaster and former player Matt Stairs has been hired as the new hitting coach.  Stairs played for the Phillies in 2008-2009 where he became a folk hero for the Home Run he crushed against the Dodgers in the 2008 NLCS.  He rejoined the team in 2014 as a member of the Phillies broadcast team.

Stairs replaces former hitting coach Steve Henderson, who was let go at the end of the 2016 season.  Stairs replacement in the broadcast booth has not yet been named.

Congrats on becoming the new hitting coach Mr. Stairs and I hope that you are extremely successful.

Stairs go BOOM!!!
