Chase Utley Photo of the Week (8-27-14)

Hi everybody,

For this week's photo I jumped in the old time machine and went back to 2009 to find this picture of Chase and JRoll leaving the field.  He's even tossing a baseball to someone.  I don't think you would call it retro since it was only five years ago but you can if you want to.

My 1000th Post

Time to celebrate...
Hi everybody,

I just wanted to acknowledge and celebrate my 1000th post.  I started this blog on October 16th, 2011....soon after the Phils got knocked out of the playoffs.  I was still vacationing in Arizona and the idea just came to me to write a blog mainly about the Phils but also other fun stuff that I do.  The first post wasn't very spectacular...I actually named it My 1st Post (My 1st Post).

It has come along way since then with Chase Utley Photo's of the Week, Talkin' Phils with Little Chase, Game Recap Posts, Gettysburg Stuff, Root Beer Reviews (actually those didn't work out too well), my friend Ann Onymous with her Ladies Night at LC's Club (I still don't approve of that) and many of my fun adventures.  I hope you all had as much fun reading as I've had posting.  Please keep reading because the fun has just started.  Thanks for your support.

Back to work....

Hi everybody,

I have a funny photo this week of Chase and the Phillie Phanatic.  As is usually the case...Chase is all business while the Phanatic is being a bit goofy.  Then again the Phanatic's job is to be goofy so I guess he is all business as well.  In any event...enjoy the photo.

Alumni Weekend - Charlie Manuel Wall of Fame Ceremony

Hi everybody,

It is Alumni Weekend down at the ballpark and former Phillies skipper Charlie Manuel was added to the Phillies Wall of Fame in a ceremony last night (August 9th) before the ballgame. Charlie managed the Phillies from 2005-2013. Among his accomplishments were 780-636 record as manager, most wins ever for a Phillies manager, best regular season record in Phillies history of 102-60 in 2011, five straight NL East division titles from 2007-2011, two straight NL Championships in 2008-2009 and the 2008 World Series. Manuel also managed two MVPs (Ryan Howard in 2006 and Jimmy Rollins in 2007) and one CY Young Award Winner (Roy Halladay in 2010).  Congrats Charlie for a well deserved honor!

Cliff Lee Returns to the DL and is Likely Done for the Season

Hi everybody,

Phillies starting pitcher Cliff Lee was placed on the disabled list yesterday with a recurring injury to his left elbow (Cliff Lee Placed on the DL).  The injury happened during Thursday's (July 31st) game against the Washington Nationals.  Lee was taken out of the game in the 3rd inning after complaining of pain in his left elbow.  It is believed that Lee is more than likely done for the season.  Although no replacement for Lee has been named yet, it is believed that David Buchanan will be brought up from Triple A to once again join the starting rotation.  Get well Cliff and hopefully be ready for next season.
